The best pattern is to complete the handover at Netsel, practise the boat inside Marmaris Bay, and only then choose between the sheltered Bozburun side and the longer Datça direction. YDA Dalaman Airport’s regional page places Marmaris about 90 kilometres away, with a typical road journey of around one hour. The airport also lists shuttle and private-transport options. Give the driver the named Netsel gate or office, the flight number and luggage count; “Marmaris” alone is too broad for a precise handover.
If the crew lands late, keep the first night at the secured berth and move the full safety briefing to daylight. Use the arrival window for a quick inventory, photos of existing marks, shore-power and water checks, and a written note of the return deadline.
Why Netsel is a practical first base
Netsel describes itself as a city marina beside Marmaris Castle and the centre, with a naturally sheltered harbour. Its current marina information lists 830 berths, including 130 dry berths, VHF 72, fuel, technical services, security, weather reports and a large on-site commercial area. For a first crew, that combination turns provisioning and troubleshooting into short shore tasks.
Capacity is not your berth. Send the operator the boat’s length overall, beam, draft, arrival time, power requirement and whether you need a catamaran-specific space. Confirm line handling, fuel access, parking and who signs off the inventory at return.

The Turkish tourism ministry highlights Bozburun for its yacht harbour, boatbuilding and peaceful setting. It is a strong second-stage stop after the crew has practised sail handling and stern-to work in Marmaris Bay. Keep the day short enough to arrive in daylight and treat the local berth or mooring as a separate confirmation, not an assumption from a chart.
If the wind is unsettled on the Datça side, Bozburun and the inner Hisarönü Gulf can preserve the holiday rhythm. The right question is not “Can we reach the farthest bay?” but “Which stop leaves a safe and comfortable return option?”

If gusts, visibility or fatigue change the picture, stay in Marmaris Bay or shorten the route to Bozburun. A first charter benefits more from a calm second night than from a forced arrival at a named cove.
