The strait between Sardinia and Corsica — the Bocche di Bonifacio — has the clearest water in the Mediterranean: the Lavezzi islets, the Maddalena lagoons, the carved coast of the Costa Smeralda. Quieter than the Riviera, more dramatic than the Balearics.

Anchorages we love

01

Lavezzi at dawn

Anchor before sunrise and swim before the day boats arrive — pink granite under turquoise water.

02

La Maddalena

A marine reserve of green-blue lagoons and low granite islands, best explored slowly by tender.

03

Catamaran-only coves

Many of the best anchorages here are shallow — a catamaran's draft reaches what bigger boats can't.
