How to use this comparison
Choose a base from your real route, arrival airport and crew profile — not from a generic ranking. This guide compares three different starting scenarios.
Portisco — best for Costa Smeralda and La Maddalena
Portisco is protected by a long breakwater and offers fuel, technical support and a shipyard. Official destination information places it about 20 minutes from Olbia airport and port.
Choose Portisco for a north-east route: Costa Smeralda, the Maddalena archipelago and short island hops. It is the practical default for a first Sardinia charter.

Olbia — best for a city arrival and transfer simplicity
Olbia has the island’s major passenger port and airport access, so it can simplify a late arrival, provisioning and crew changes. Treat the exact charter marina as a separate decision: operational access can differ from city-port convenience.
It works when flights and logistics matter more than starting right beside the most scenic anchorages. Ask for the exact berth, parking and fuel-return procedure.
Alghero / Porto Conte — best for a west-coast route
Porto Conte Marina is a sheltered, service-equipped marina near Alghero; the airport is about 10 km from Alghero city. Use this area for a western Sardinia route rather than trying to combine it with a short Costa Smeralda week.
Choose it for a quieter, nature-led itinerary and for crews flying to Alghero. It is a different product from Portisco, not a substitute on the same route.
