How Much Does a Yacht Charter in Montenegro Cost? A Complete Price Breakdown

The short answer

For six to eight guests, plan roughly €2,500–6,500 per week for a 40–45 ft bareboat catamaran in shoulder season, €6,000–13,500 for a larger or peak-season catamaran, and about €25,000–55,000 for a crewed charter. Superyachts are a separate market. These are planning ranges, not quotes: dates, yacht age, base, skipper, VAT and mandatory packs can change the total.

Published listings show why a single “from” price is misleading. A Lagoon 40 in Herceg Novi is listed around €3,600 in April, €4,800 in June, €5,600 in August and about €4,000 in October. An Excess 11 in Tivat is shown around €3,525 in the low period and €6,264 in peak season. A Lagoon 50 listing ranges from roughly €5,200 to €13,600 per week. These are marketplace examples; availability, deposit and extras still require a written quote.

Three practical budgets

Shoulder-season bareboat. A 40–45 ft catamaran may cost €2,500–5,500. Add €500–1,200 for mandatory packs and about €700–1,500 for fuel, food and several marina nights. For six guests, that is approximately €600–1,350 per person, excluding flights and a refundable deposit.

Skippered catamaran in June or September. Base hire often sits around €4,500–9,000; new or larger boats can reach €10,000–13,500. Add the skipper, provisioning, fuel, berthing and extras. A useful working total is €7,000–15,000 for six to eight guests.

Crewed charter. Market overviews place comfortable crewed catamarans from around €25,000 per week, while larger motor yachts quickly exceed €50,000. APA is often around 25–35% of the base fee, with fuel, VAT and gratuity treated separately. Ask for a sample APA statement and refund process before payment.

Base and marina effects

Kotor and Tivat work well for Bay of Kotor itineraries because passages are short and a weather buffer is easy to keep. Porto Montenegro advertises more than 500 berths for yachts up to 250 m, while Marina Kotor publishes a tariff structure by length, beam, season and VAT. Do not apply a monohull rate to a wide catamaran.

Portonovi sits at the entrance to Boka Bay and lists 238 berths up to 140 m, 24/7 water and power, fuel, border clearance and technical services. It is a strong premium-service choice, but confirm whether the berth is included in your charter fee. Bar is better suited to an open-Adriatic route toward Budva and Ulcinj; compare the transfer and first-day passage before assuming it is cheaper.

July and August are the peak season. May, early June, September and October usually offer better availability. Check tourist taxes, water, electricity, waste, international clearance, transfers and provisioning delivery. For a Montenegro–Croatia one-way, confirm documents, border procedures and one-way charges in writing.
